. . . that Bjorn has been accepted to Test Pilot School in Pax River, Maryland (ha....I bet some of you were sure that we were going to tell you that a Dash-4 is on the way...gotcha.)! I am so proud of Bjorn and this very important accomplishment.
We were on edge for a while because this was Bjorn's only chance of applying (most guys get two opportunities...we chanced it and decided not to apply on the first go round since there was a strong likelihood that Bjorn would have missed Espen's delivery with my quick deliveries). Then we started stressing even more when we learned that only ONE pilot from his platform would be accepted into the upcoming class when they normally have three slots available. We were so excited last week to learn that Bjorn was the talented pilot who was accepted for that one slot! I am sure that the applicants were extremely competitive and I know that Bjorn is pretty honored to have been chosen by the board. Needless to say, Bjorn is pretty stoked about all the flying he will get to do!
We are beyond elated about being back to the East Coast again and for this exciting opportunity! It will be wonderful to be close to family again and to be close lots of rich cultural and educational opportunities for the kids. The only drawback to this wonderful experience is that we won't be able to take our Florida friends with us. We made wonderful friendships that feels more like family than friends. All of our kids are the same age group, we all live within a mile or 2 of each other, we have fun playdates and dinners, and most of all, we all like each other... A LOT! We have been so blessed to have these friends near us for their love and support. None of us have family close, so we have been dependent on each other the last two and half years for so much. We will miss each one of our friends a great deal. We hope that as the Navy pulls us on our separate paths, we will one day cross paths again for another tour together.
